Are you interested in international organisations, diplomacy, issues of peace and security, or current changes in political relations at global level? Would you like to know more about the causes of terrorism and the resolution of violent conflicts? If you do, the bachelor specialisation in International Relations and Organisations (IRO) may be just right for you.
Programme content
On this programme, you take modules such as International Organisations and Actors in World Politics, International Politics, Comparative Politics, and Global History. You will also develop academic and professional skills: statistics, research methods, text analysis, and debating.
In the second year offers you study the following themes in greater depth:
- global justice
- international development
- international security
- international political economy
- international law and human rights.
In the third year, you specialise in one of these themes.. In addition, you can choose to do electives or a minor, study abroad, or do an internship.
One of the advantages of studying in The Hague is that you will be surrounded by (international) political organisations that may be offering internships.
Entry Requirements
Three A-Levels in academic subjects [Grade C or above] plus 3 GCSEs [Grade C or above]
At least four Scottish Highers and/or Advanced Highers in A-B for the Higher and A-C for the Advanced Higher subjects
Six subjects at Leaving Certificate including 3 at Higher level. Minimum points: 440. (Note: some LC subjects are deemed not sufficiently academic by Leiden and are not accepted. Check with EUNiCAS)
